Monica

A book based on a game or competition.

Organization Queen- How do you organize your books?

Divergent by Veronica Roth

This is such a fun series that I loved reading. Tris has to compete with herself and the other member of dauntless and it makes for a fun series.

I don’t have a set way of organizing my books. Currently, they are in 3 sections: books I’ve read, books I’ve started, and books to read.

Rachel

A book you read for the hype.

Shopping Addict- What makes you buy a book?

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger

I did read this for the hype because of the connection it has to the death of John Lennon but I was not impressed. A lot of people I know love it but I can’t say I am one of them.

This is one thing I don’t love about my book buying addiction because I am a sucker for a good book cover. If the cover is beautiful and the plot is halfway decent then I will probably buy it!

Ross

A science fiction book.

On a break- Which books have you put down to pick back up later?

Under the Dome by Stephen King

This was my first Stephen King book and my first science fiction book as well. I loved it but was disappointed by the science fiction aspect of it because that trope is so over used now. But when the book was written I am sure it was a huge surprise to readers.

The ones that I think of are The Great Divorce by C.S Lewis, Turtles All The Way Down by John Green and The Giver. All books I loved and would read again but I had a hard time reading them consistently which meant taking some long breaks.

Chandler

A book that made you laugh out loud.

That time at Space Mountain- Are there any books you’re embarrassed to admit you’ve read?

Talking As Fas As I Can by Lauren Graham

I love Gilmore Girls because of some of it’s humor and that is attributed the writers and actors. But Lauren Graham (who plays Lorelai Gilmore) is hilarious. She writes about her time on set and I certainly laughed at many of her stories.

I don’t have any books I am embarrassed to admit I’ve read.

Joey

A scary book you’d keep in the freezer.

V is for Encyclopedia- As an adult, have you read any books with words you had to look up to understand?

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

This book creeped me out a few times. I think it was because of the tension but I put it in my closet at night so I wasn’t tempted to read it or else I knew I wouldn’t sleep.

I don’t have a huge vocabulary so I often have to look up words. An Absolutely Remarkable Thing was one of them because of all the scientific terms he used.

Phoebe

A book with a spiritual or supernatural theme.

The boycott- Are there any authors, booksellers, or publishers you refuse to support?

The Screwtape Letters by C.S Lewis

This novel is a bunch of letter between the devil and his nephew. Even if you are not religious this is still a great book to read because it really gets your mind going.

I mean I don’t love the overly sexualized romance books so I guess I don’t buy Harlequin Romance books. I don’t not support them I just don’t read them.

Janice

A book with an OH MY GOD twist:

The Wife by Meg Wolitzer

I don’t want to spoil the book but this book kept me on the edge of my seat and the plot twist almost made me drop my book in the bathtub!

Richard

A book that left you feeling accomplished or better educated.

Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I read this for a university course and it was really enlightening on the post colonial society of Africa. It is a story of freedom and of love vs power.
