Hello readers!

Although we are slightly past the 1/2 point of 2020, I thought I’d still do a mid-year review.

Keep reading to know what I have read so far and what I am excited to read in the final months of 2020!

Let’s jump in!

Books I’ve Read:

For this list, I chose only the novels I read in their entirety. I have read a ton of short stories and novels excerpts while in school but these are the ones I read wholly.

This was my 2nd time reading Huck Finn and I loved it just as much this time.

The characters Huck and Jim are outrageous and it makes for a very entertaining book. It is especially a good book to read during this time of racial issues.

I was not looking forward to reading The Stone Angel.

This book as assigned for my class that counted for my Canadian Literature credit. I went into it with the mindset that “I just had to get it over with.”

I came out of it with a good understanding of Canadian lit and I loved this book. Hagar, although sometimes grumpy, was a really fun character to get to know.

I could talk about Dear Evan Hansen all day!

Oddly enough, this book made me miss school so much. I have never had a bad school experience so it is hard to relate to Evan and Conner but everyone knows someone who is struggling.

This book is harsh when it comes to mature themes such as suicide but it gets to the heart of the matter and you are coming to terms with the reality alongside some really great characters.

I think I am hooked in Harry Potter!

I “read” this book when I was a child but I honestly don’t remember anything about it. After visiting Universal Studios in Orlando, I decided it was time for me to read the books.

Honestly, I regret not reading them sooner because the first one was great! And I’ve heard they just keep getting better and better.

Books I’m Reading:

I have been a follower of Natasha Preston for a couple of years and came across this book and her plots just hook me in! This is the book I read on my phone while I am waiting in line or if I want to read with the lights out.

I highly recommend one of Natasha Preston’s other book Silence in a review HERE!

My current print book I’m reading is Hank Green’s new book and I just can’t seem to put it down. Especially since he left us in agony not knowing what happened to April May.

Books I Want To Read:

I am easily spooked so I have never delved much into the mystery portion of the book stores because I don’t want to be up all night. But I am trying to expand my horizons and I saw The Mousetrap in a theater which is by Agatha Christie and loved it!

So here’s to branching out to new genres.

150 Glimpses of the Beatles looks so fun! It doesn’t come out until October but I may be able to review it earlier and I can’t wait to do so!

Lastly, I am a sucker for a good biography or autobiography. This book about Jerry Seinfeld comes out later this year and I will definitely be at the bookstore to buy it!

In Conclusion.

I am a slow reader but I have loved getting to read so many new types of books. I certainly will miss reading an assigned book and discussing them in a classroom but I am excited to read some different books.

Over to you.

How are you all doing with your book lists? I would love to hear about your progress in the comments.
